Fluoxetine (Prozac) Prescription Information

Indications: Fluoxetine is prescribed for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorders, aggression, and inappropriate marking behaviors.

Available Formulations:

• 10 mg capsules: Split each capsule in half and mix the contents into food
• 10 mg tablets: Break each tablet in half before administration (tablets are small and easily divided)

Important Safety Information: Use fluoxetine with caution and monitor your cat closely. While uncommon, potential side effects may include:

• Decreased appetite
• Constipation
• Urinary retention or blockage

When to Seek Immediate Care: Contact our clinic immediately if you observe any of the following symptoms:

• Loss of appetite
• Lethargy or unusual tiredness
• Difficulty or straining when urinating
• Increased frequency of urination attempts
• Complete inability to urinate

If these symptoms occur outside of our regular hours, seek immediate attention at an emergency veterinary clinic.
