Description
Atopica for Cats is indicated for the control of feline allergic dermatitis and eosinophilic granuloma complex.
There are few adverse reactions to Atopica. Gastrointestinal irritation is the most common reported adverse effect and occurs in approximately 25-30% of patients (only approx. 5% severe enough to discontinue therapy). Gingival hyperplasia and papilloma-like lesions have been reported, but are rare, occurring in less then 3% of dogs receiving cyclosporine therapy. Cyclosporine also suppresses the immune system and can rarely predispose cats to infections.
The general dosage is once daily until relief of the symptoms and then tapering to two to three times weekly after that. It is recommended that Atopica is given with food.
