Description

Douxo is a a topical medication for chin acne in cats.  The usual dosage is two drops on the chin twice weekly.

Douxo is a phytosphingosine, which contains both salicylic acid and ceramides.  Salicylic acid causes the cells of the skin to shed more readily, opening clogged pores and neutralizing bacteria within, preventing pores from clogging up again by constricting pore diameter.  Ceramides restore the skin lipid barrier, have antibacterial and anti fungal effects, and maintain the correct moisture balance.  They also have an anti-inflammatory effect.

Side effects include salivation if the cat tastes the Douxo when it is applied.
